"Hope" Pires, 63, of 92 Owen Ave., died Thursday in the Woman and Infant's
Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of Antonio Pires Jr.
Born (1-22-40) in Tuscon,
AZ she was a daughter of the late Alberto and Triniade (Airas) Ramonett.
She resided in Pawtucket for the past 33 years, previously residing in Central
Falls.
She was employed by
KPMG, Inc. of Providence for the past eight years previously working for
Fleet, Tax Department in the downtown Providence Office.
She was a communicant of
Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland, and was also a CCD teacher at the
church.
besides her husband she
leaves two sons, Antonio Pires III of Cumberland, and Albert-Joseph Pires of
Coventry. One daughter, Sabrina Pires of Boston, Massachusetts.
One sister, Angelina Sosa of California. Six Grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held
Monday at 9 A.M. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122,
Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of Fatima
Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary

John G. Brandt III, 62,
of 10 Old Diamond Hill Rd., died Wednesday in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient
Center, Providence. He was the husband of Mary (Mundy) Brandt.
Born (10-30-40) in
Englewood, NJ he was a son of the late John G. Brandt Jr. and the late Mary (Lutey)
Brandt. He resided in Cumberland for the past 41 years.
He was employed by
the Nyman Mfg. Co., East Providence for 17 years until his retirement.
Besides his wife
he leaves two daughters, Deborah Hull of Pawtucket, Patricia Glynn of
Cumberland. One son, John G. Brandt IV of Central Falls. One sister, Betty
Lou McGrath of Londonderry, NH. Seven grandchildren.
His funeral
service will be held on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. in the J. J. Duffy Funeral
Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland.

J. Mercier, 69, of 136 Roland Street, died Tuesday in the Mt. St. Francis Health
Center, Woonsocket. He was the wife of Barbara (Jette) Mercier.
Born
(06-24-1935) in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Raymond J. and Eva (Magnon)
Mercier. He was a life long Cumberland resident.
Mr. Mercier
was a machinist for the former Industrial Tool Company of Smithfield, RI for
many years until his illness.
Besides his
wife he leaves two sons, Ronald Mercier and Scott Mercier, both of Cumberland.
Three daughters, Lori Mercier of Warwick, Lisa Spearen of Holden Maine, and
Linda Pontbriant of Cumberland.
His funeral
and burial will be private. Arrangments are under the direction of J. J. Duffy
Funeral Home.

Helen L.
Johnson, 85, of 10 Old Diamond Hill Road, previously Hillside Road died
Saturday in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the
late David A. Johnson.
Born (10-07-1917 in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and
Joanna (Halajko) Winiarski. She lived in Cumberland for 30 years, and was also
a resident of Madison, NH.
Mrs. Johnson was an avid oil painter, and enjoyed arts.
She leaves two sons, David A. Johnson of West Kennebunk, Maine, and Gerald L.
Johnson of Wells, Maine. Three daughters, Judith A. Freeman of Westerly, Rhode
Island, Christine L. Webb of Narragansett, Rhode Island. Kimberly J. Deetjen of
Burlington, Vermont. Four grandchildren, Alison C. Freeman of Stonington,
Conneticuit. Jill M. Raggio of Brighton, Massachusetts, Alexander L. Deetjen
and Benjamin A. Deetjen of Burlington, Vermont. Sister of the late Edward K.
Winiarski and Frank J. Winiarski.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 A.M. in the J. J. Duffy
Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial will be in the
Elmvale Cemetery, Woodstock, CT.

John A. Goncalo, 45, of 387 Broadway died Tuesday in The Memorial Hospital of
RI. He was the husband of Patricia L. (Rondeau) Goncalo.
Born in St. Mary, Azores, Portugal he was a son of the late Jose and Elizabeth (Mendonca)
Goncalo. He came to this country at the age of 8 settling in East Providence
and had lived in Pawtucket since 1988.
He was the grounds coordinator employed by The Memorial Hospital of RI,
Pawtucket since 1988.
Besides his wife he leaves six sisters, Maria Moura, Maria L. Loura, Almerinda
Coetano, and Bernadette Stott all of East Providence. Maria V. Francisco of
Providence and Maria A. Carney of Pawtucket. Many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Jose A. Goncalo.
His funeral and burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of
the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home.

Ernest O. Tessier, Sr., 86, of Elmwood Drive, died Monday in the Miriam
Hospital. He was the husband of Lillian (Chabot) Tessier. They had been
married for 62 years.
Born (3-24-1917) in Central Falls, he was the son of the late George and
Aurelie (Tanguay) Tessier. He resided in Cumberland since 1941.
Mr. Tessier was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus (Sullivan Council) and a 4th
Degree Knight (Delaney Council). He was a member of the St. Joseph Seniors
Club of Woonsocket, and the St. John Vianney Seniors Club of Cumberland. He
was past vice-president of Royal Travelers from which he recieved the Person
of the Year Award in 1990. He was the past President of the Capenters Local
94, and was on the executive board. He also Served on the Cumberland Town
Council for a number of years in the 1990's and 1980's.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Ernest Tessier Jr. of Johnston, David
Tessier of Smithfield. One Daughter, Sussan P. Pascale of Cumberland.
Three grandchildren, Elysia Gaynor of Providence, Aubrie Pascale of
Cumberland, and Daniel Tessier of Smithfield. Brother of the late Armand
Tessier, Arthur Tessier, Ernest Tessier, Joseph Tessier, Oscar Tessier,
Lucien Tessier, Lydia Tessier, Marie Tessier, Yvonne Tessier, Grace Gregoire,
and Georgianna Hemond.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 A.M. in the J. J. Duffy Funeral
Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be held at 10 A.M. in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland.

Gerard J. Nault, 71, of 8 Westwood Drive, died Saturday at home. He was the
husband of Alice (Niemi) Nault.
Born (2-25-32) in Leominster, MA he was the son of the late Alphonse and
Virginia (Charpentier) Nault. He resided in Cumberland for the past 44 years.
He worked in the Aero Space Industry, employed in Research and Development ,
working with NASAA with Air-Lock, Inc. of Milford, CT for 35 years and was
still working on a semi-retired basis.
He was a communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland.
Among his hobbies were reading about the civil war, WWI and WWII.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Ronald Nault of Whittier, Calif., and
Steven Nault of Riverside, Calif., One daughter, Barbara Nault of Cumberland.
Three brothers, Roger Nault of Gardner, Mass., Joseph Nault and Rene Nault,
both of Fitchburg, Mass. Four sisters, Theresa Miller of Lancaster, Mass.,
Georgette Ducharme of Manning So. Car., Jeannie Murphy of Fitchburg, Mass., and
Lorraine Malozzi of Petersham, Mass., Six grandchildren, two great
grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

E. Kane, 75, of 156 Bear Hill Rd. died Saturday in the Grandview Nursing Center,
Cumberland. She was the wife of the late John P. Kane.
Born (9-23-18) in Central Falls she was a daughter of the late Lester C. and
Elizabeth (Dailey) Godfrey. She was raised in Cumberland and had lived in
Warwick for 37 years returning to Cumberland 3 years ago.
She was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland and a former
communicant of St. Gregory The Great Church, Warwick.
She leaves one brother, Bud Godfrey of Lincoln and many close nieces and
nephews. She was also the sister of the late Blanche Chandonnait.

Susan M. McKee-Pond, 48, of 2 Chestnut Hill Rd., died Tuesday at the home of a
family friend after an illness.
Born (7-6-55) in Pawtucket, and raised in Valley Falls, she was a daughter of
Lois (Lord) McKee of Cumberland and the late Everett McKee. She resided in
Chepachet for the past 8 years, previously living in Blackstone, MA for many
years.
She was employed at the Zamborano Memorial Hospital for the past 10 years.
Besides her mother she leaves two sons, Bryan and Jason Pond both of
Blackstone. Two brothers, Robert McKee of Cumberland and Richard McKee of
Southington, CT. Four sisters, May Marzalkowski, Virginia Fiore, and Rose
Marie Chevalier all of Cumberland and Cecilia Corkery of Farmington, NH.
Several nieces and nephews. She is also leaves her beloved companion, Mark
Gauthier of Chepachet.
