The Conners 3rd Edition™ (Conners 3™) is the result of five years of extensive product development and research. Based on the solid findings and key elements of its predecessor, the Conners’ Rating Scales–Revised (CRS–R™), the Conners 3 offers a more thorough assessment of ADHD. The Conners 3 now addresses comorbid disorders such as oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder. It is a reliable and dependable tool capable of supporting you in the diagnostic process.

Features of the Conners-3:

•A large representative normative sample based on the latest U.S. census data
•A refined focus on ADHD in school-age children with a new age range (6–18 for parent and teacher scales and 8–18 for self-report scales)
•Strengthened Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders: Fourth Edition (DSM-IV-TR™) connections
•Clear applications in education settings that help identify children with clinical symptoms
•A manual that provides step-by-step guidance on how to use the tool in intervention planning and monitoring
Representative Sample
The Conners 3rd Edition™ (Conners 3™) has been co-normed with the all new Conners Comprehensive Behavior Rating Scales™ (CBRS™) and provides you with contemporary normative data—data that reflects the demographic of your diverse populations. The large normative data sample is representative of the general U.S. Bureau of the Census population in terms of ethnicity, race, gender, and parent education level. During the collection of data for the normative sample approximately 6,000 forms were received. This comprehensive sample allowed for a thorough evaluation of the psychometric properties of all versions of the assessment tools.

Psychometrically Sound
The Conners 3 reliability studies include evaluation of 1) Internal consistency, 2) Test-retest reliability, 3) Inter-rater reliability, and 4) Standard error of measurement. The validity of the Conners 3 has been tested for A) Factorial validity, B) Construct validity (including relationships with other related measures, and C) Predictive validity (including the ability of the Conners 3 to differentiate between youth with ADHD and those without a clinical diagnosis).

Multi-informant
As with its predecessor, the new Conners 3 is a multi-informant assessment. Gathering information from parents, teachers and youth provides a view of the child’s disorder and concerns from multiple perspectives. The Conners 3 provides the mental health professional multi-informant rating scales—parent, teacher and self-report, allowing you to build support for the diagnostic process. The Conners 3 has a high level of consistency in the scales across raters, allowing for easy interpretation of multi-informant assessments.

Short Forms
The Conners 3 also gives clinicians the choice of using a short form. The short form, consisting of 43 items on the parent form, 39 on the teacher form, and 39 on the self-report form, is an excellent tool for screening large groups of students who may require additional assessment. This form is beneficial when the assessment is repeated a number of times and/or when administration time is limited. The short form is useful in monitoring the success of treatment programs over long periods of time. The short form provides you with the strongest items from the full form’s empirical scales and includes positive and negative impression indices for all informants.
