Q: I have never used a leaf blower. Can you give me some tips?

A: Leaf blowers are ideal tools for sweeping yard debris, such as grass clippings. It is best to blow or vacuum leaves when they are dry and coverage is light.  

Q: What safety equipment should I use when operating a chainsaw?

A: When operating a chainsaw it is best to wear safety footwear, snug-fitting clothing, and proper protection for your eyes, hearing, and head.

Q: When cutting grass is it better to bag the clippings, or blow them out?

A: Contrary to popular belief short grass clippings are not bad for your lawn. Long clippings can build up thatch, which does not allow air and sunlight to get to your grass. If you do not cut your grass on a regular basis we recommend that you bag your clippings.

Q: When is the best time of year for lawn seeding and improvement?

A: While both spring and fall are good times to work on your lawn, the fall is best. Think of September as “lawn month”. The fall is a good time to seed because there is less weed competition, and the young grass will have two cool growing seasons before facing the heat of summer.
