Throughout most of India the God Ram has very deep roots in religious observation as well as society at large. The Kawad is a mobile temple made of wood and hand painted in traditional colors. The Kawad depicts historical and religious events that took place in the Hindu epic Ramayana. A priest (Bhat) carries this temple wrapped in red cloth on his head from village to village. The Bhat folds out the 8-10 folding flanks in rhythm while narrating each event teaching the history and importance that Ram has established in laying down high moral principles in his fight against evil and setting forth example for the noble society. This comes with a booklet explaining all the folding flanks to the epic story Ramayana. Hand made by villagers from Bassi near Udaipur. Comes in Red or Green, you choose.
