The Tibetan Bell & Dorje are basic tools in the Buddhist culture. The Bell is held in the left hand, and is an expression of the qualities of Compassion and Loving-Kindness. The Dorje, is held in the right hand, sometimes near the heart, and is an expression of the qualities of Wisdom. Dorjes, (the "Lord of Stones") (Tibetan) was originally attributed to the Hindu God Indra from which lighting emanated. In Tibetan Buddhism, Vajra is the indestructible diamond like nature of emptiness (shunyata), or pure mind. The Dorje perfectly expresses the enlightened qualities of pure mind, pure creativity and pristine awareness It is the basis of the meaning of Vajrayana, the true name for "Tibetan Buddhism." They are both made of solid brass. The Bell is 5 3/4” high by 3” wide and the Dorje is 3” long.
