SELLING TIPS

1. Marketing your vehicle correctly can make the difference in how long it will take, or even IF your vehicle will sell, as well as the amount of money you will receive. When it comes to marketing your vehicle, "exposure" is the key.  We suggest that you use a more than one means of advertising.  Newspaper and classifieds will gain some exposure, as well as a "FOR SALE" sign and parking the vehicle on a busy street (be sure to have permission to park it in the location you choose).

PICTURES ARE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS and THOUSANDS OF $$$. The problem with placing pictures in the classified papers is that it is very expensive.  We suggest that you  advertise your vehicle on wheelpig.com and then direct your classifieds to it, i.e. "89 chevy pu loaded $5700 CALL 555-5555. FOR PHOTO AND DETAILS SEE WHEELPIG.COM". It is far easier to get people to go to there than it is to get them to call you  and make a viewing appointment.  Once people see the vehicle they will be far more likely to call and make an appointment to test-drive it, giving you the exposure you are seeking and increasing the chances of not only selling your vehicle,  but also receiving the best price.

2. Displaying and showing your vehicle.  Make sure your vehicle is clean and all the little things are fixed (loose trim, burned out light, squeaky doors,  etc.). If there is anything wrong with the vehicle, for example, a chip in the paint, a dent or ding, you need to let the potential buyer know about it first.  If a buyer thinks you're hiding things from them, you're not going to get the sale.  In other words, be honest.

3. Pricing your vehicle correctly is very important. When pricing your vehicle,  keep in mind it is only worth what the market says it is,  no matter how much you would like to sell it for. For book prices see our links to Kelley Blue Book and N.A.D.A..
