LOCAL MINISTRIES

Food Pantry

For those in our local and surrounding communities, we through our partnership with Hinsdale Community Service and Christ Church of Oak Brook offer a 100% choice food pantry to all who may be in need.  With costs continuing to soar, there is an increase need in assisting those in our community to make ends meet.  Helping our neighbors is an awarding venture and a fulfillment of "Love your neighbor as yourself."

We have many opportunities to demonstrate our love of neighbor.  One may want to help set up the food pantry Wednesday evenings starting at 6:00 p.m.  Volunteers are need every Thursday to help stock shelves, pick up donated items, assist our neighbors, and assit in taking the grociers out, or man the Bible table. Our food pantry operates every Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on the fourth Saturday of each month from 8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

If donating time is a difficulty, the food pantry is looking for donations of non-perishable and perishable food items, cleaning products, personel hygiene, and other miscellaneous items.  Please feel free to call the churh for further information.

AWANA Children's Club

Awana Clubs take off on September 16, 2009.  The Awana Clubs meet from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evenings during the school year. Come by 6:15 p.m. to register!  Helium balloons (with Awana invitations inside) will be released in the parking lot at 6:30 p.m. sharp!  There will also be a Popsicle Bash and Face Painting for everyone on September 16th only!

Awana is an International, nondenominational, Bible-centered youth organization providing weekday clubs and programs.  It helps churches and parents worldwide to raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ.

The Awana program consists of 3 parts: singing and lessons from the Bible that apply to the child's life; team games played on the Awana circle; small groups focusing on memorizing and understanding Bible verses and completing handbooks.

During the school year, Awana is in full gear.  Sparks is for boys and girls 5 years of age through 2nd grade.  Truth and Training (T&T) is for boys and girls 3rd through 6th grades.  To add to the fun, awards can be earned and special theme nights are planned.

The Jr. High Program (grades 7-8) date and time to be announced.

Youth

The youth are an important part of our community.  The Jr. and Sr. High Youth meet on Sunday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.  For more information, feel free to click on the link, Youth, on top of the page.

Alliance Women

It is a fact that women who connect with other women find support and encouragement.  Women, we do need each other.  We want to provide opportunities for women to have fellowship with one another and develop meaningful friendships, be discipled so we grow in our faith, get involved in reaching out to others in need, make missions personal by taking on special projects, and finally develop a deeper prayer life.

We will be announcing soon our plans for this year!

Bible Studies / Small Groups in homes

There is a Bible Study for men and it is held every Tuesday morning starting at 8:30 a.m. in the church facility.

We also have a home-based small group that meets the second and fourth Sunday of every month from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.  (contact church office for specific location because we rotate homes)
