Founder and owner of The Watson Hunting Camp, Chuck Ellingson has grown up in western, Mn and has been hunting the Lac Qui Parle area with his dad since he was able to carry a gun. Recently as Chuck's grandparents passed away several years ago, Chuck took over their existing farm which was located on the north side of the Laq Qui Parle Refuge. Chuck also made a significant purchase of land inside the refuge boundaries where his new lodge now sits on top of the north hill overlooking the Lac Qui Parle Refuge. Chuck also purchased a game preserve within one mile of his lodge where he is able to take hunters pheasant hunting virtually year round. Chuck and his trusty chocolate lab Morgan really enjoy what they do. Now that Chuck's brother Matt, who is Chuck's head waterfowl guide in the fall, has moved up to the Twin City area, the two of them are working very hard to offer some of Minnesota's Finest Waterfowl Hunting and Upland Bird Hunting Barr None! I hunted pheasants at the Watson Hunting Camp four times this past October and November. The camp is set in western Minnesota. It is in the middle of literally thousands of acres of farmland adjoining Lac Qui Parle lake and the game refuge. The owner Chuck Ellingson, and his trusty retriever Morgan, were obviously intent on providing relaxed and memorable hunting experiences. With Chuck and Morgan's help, our hunting parties always had great shooting and flawless retrieves. With my freezer full of pheasants I look forward to many good meals, and lots of fun hunting next fall.
