In partnership with Turning Point Day Resource Center for the Homeless and Near Homeless, MA Children’s Relief is organizing its annual holiday program for children in need. To date, 121 children from 50 families need support for clothes as well as books, crafts and toys with 76 kids already assigned sponsors or sponsor teams. We are seeking personal shoppers for Kid Komfort Kits IV for young children & Gateway Giving Gifts II for tweens and teens.
A Kit contains winter clothes as well as toys and books of particular interest to individual children. Gateway Giving gifts are clothes & gift card to a local business or service associated with each child’s interests. We are also seeking comfort items such as handmade blankets, toys, hats and mittens for those who are homeless. If you can volunteer to be a personal shopper, craft comfort items, or donate gift cards, please contact Sally Morrison at (508) 291-3504 or (509) 295-7410, or sammorrison@comcast.net. Kid Komfort Kits & Gateway Giving shopping must be completed by Dec. 15.

The WomenAde of Wareham (WOW) Christmas Open House is being hosted by ADMakepeace for the second year. The Open House will be held at Tihonnet Marketplace at the Makepeace complex on Tihonnet Road in Wareham on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 6 – 9 p.m.
Last year the Open House was very successful, and WomenAde is excited that Makepeace will be hosting them again this year.
WomenAde is a local charity which was formed five years ago by seven Wareham/Onset women who felt there was a need that was not being filled by the established charities in the region. The express purpose of W.O.W. is to fill in those gaps and also to partner with local charities for the community good. W.O.W. is a 501c3 charitable corporation.
Generally WOW has four fundraisers a year. All of the members are volunteers and 100 percent of all monies raised goes into the WOW coffers. All expenses are borne by the members. This Christmas Open House is the last event of 2008. Because it is the Christmas season it is very festive and some people come dressed elegantly while others come in casual dress. We don’t care how you dress as long as you come.
We ask that you give a $25 contribution or it is free with a donation. WOW will have many raffle items, including dinners at local reataurants, a unique cranberry focus collage with a retail value of $75.00, jewelry, photographs and many other items. Of special interest is a painting by Wareham’s own Anne MacCrae McCloud. McCloud is a well-known painter in the area and teaches painting locally. Her paintings are highly treasured.
You can call WOW at 508-759-6954 or send a check to OW, PO Box 803, Onset, MA 02558.
