August 31, 2008  The Tasks that Give Us Dignity, by Reverend Beth Marshall.  The Labor Day weekend, let's take this morning to reflect upon those areas in our lives which give us dignity as human beings.

August 10, 2008   The Quest for Perfectionby Reverend Beth Marshall.  During this 2008 Olympics, many of us will be glued to our televisions watching athletes who have dedicated their lives to the quest for perfection.  For the rest of us mere mortals, there is an art to imperfection, to knowing that we have done well enough, that  we have worked hard enough, and our lives will be complete even if we don't score a perfect "10."

August 3, 2008 Making a New Home (Finding Sanctuary), by Reverend Beth Marshall.  How do we define a new home?  Is it the building, the people we share it with, or the street address?  We are a nation of people who are good at making new homes for ourselves; we have been doing it for generations.  Come and help us celebrate our first full service in our new church home on Glendale Avenue.

July 13, 2008 - Running the Great Race,   Led by Bob Rudolph, CLL.  The inspiration for the sermon comes from St. Paul’s second letter to Timothy in which he writes, “I have run the great race, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.”  As a congregation, we are involved in a great enterprise that in some ways is like the Iditarod run to Nome, Alaska, to bring the life-saving medicine.  Some of us run only a short way and drop out.  Others are in for the long haul but cannot finish for a whole host of reasons.  Some join along the way.  What is your role in the great race?

May 11, 2008 - Good Enough Mom - Led by Rev. Lynn Kerr.  Each Mother’s Day, our children try to be on their best behavior.  We go out to dinner, and we might even get flowers.  It should also be a day to pat yourself on the back and congratulate the “good enough mom” in you.  Let’s face it; the ability to model imperfection can be the hardest and most necessary task for Moms. This Sunday, let’s all celebrate the not so perfect side of motherhood.

January 27, 2008 “Wake, Now, My Senses”, Led by Rev. Lynn Kerr.  Bertrand Russell, Nobel Prize winner, mathematician and philosopher wrote in 1930:  ”Some American students took me walking in the spring through a wood on the borders of their campus; it was filled with exquisite wild flowers, but not one of my guides knew the name of even one of them. What use would such knowledge be? It could not add to anybody’s income.”No time to smell the roses?  Hear the whistle of the wind?  Touch the new fallen snow?  Rev. Kerr discusses balance in our lives by using the senses we were given.

December 30, 2008 "Hard Edges Softened Here".  Led by Bob Rudolph, Commissioned Lay Leader.  One of the challenging paradoxes of our times is the growth of a global economy and communications systems simultaneous with the hardening of the edges of cultural and social groupings. We seem increasingly connected AND increasingly fragmented into cultural groups with hard edges that can cut, hurt, and maim. What does our religious way offer as a means of softening those hard edges so we can coexist more peacefully?

"When Fate Stepped In" Led by Dr. Robert S. Rudolph

October 7, 2007
“Being Open to New Ministry”  Led by Rev. Rod Thompson, Interim Minister.  What are your expectations of your new minister?  I know you have them.  Your Search Committee needs to know what they are.  This morning I will be more concerned about all those unwritten, unspoken, perhaps unrealistic expectations that you've got in the back of your minds.  So, let's look at what makes a good minister and what your expectations should be.  You might be surprised.  The subtitle for this sermon is: A Good Enough Minister.  See you in church.

September 30 ,2007
“I Used to Believe”  Led by Rev. Lynn Kerr, Minister of Religious Education.  Some Unitarian Universalists may have a difficult time articulating their faith.  Rev. Lynn Kerr examines how we define our religion and challenges us to think about our beliefs beyond explaining what it is that we don’t believe.

August 19, 2007 – Captivated or Captive by Pets?:  When did pets become such an integral part of my life?  Rev. Kerr explores the mystery of why we need pets and sometimes go overboard.

March 4, 2007 –
For Times We Shall Never See:  It's hard to look ahead when we can just barely keep up with the present.  Why go beyond what is required?  Rev. Kerr examines the many faces of  stewards in our past, present, and future.

July 30, 2006: A Free and Responsible Search—How does searching for truth as Unitarian Universalists define us as a religious people? What are the advantages and what are the dangers in defining our search in this way? And what IS this “truth” we’re searching for? Dr. Rudolph .
July 23, 2006:
A Tale of Two Marriages—We are all fallible human beings, so why are we sometimes surprised when a partnership isn't forever? Reverend Lynn Kerr.
July 9, 2006:
At Your Side—As our Commissioned Lay Leader with chief responsibility for pastoral care, I’ll be reflecting on what I’ve learned and how I’ve grown spiritually through my work with the Parish Visitors over the past 16 years, serving with them . . . at your side. Dr. Rudolph.
