The UU Café offers activity stations and games that encourage spirituality and creativity. Monthly, a structured activity is offered around environmental issues. Nursery care is also available at this time. Preschoolers and Kindergartners are welcome in the Nursery if they would be more comfortable with younger children. Prior to the “time for all children” portion of the Sunday worship service, the children may contribute to a collection to support our partner church in Aranyosrakos, Romania. Our partner church was dedicated in 1765 and has consistently provided a forum for liberal Christians in the area close to Cluj. After the Service Please retrieve children from nursery age through First grade promptly at the end of the worship service. Many volunteers are also parents that need to get their own children. Older children generally meet their parents at coffee hour. To ensure a safe congregation for all, any child under age 18 must be with an adult when they are in the church building. A play area is located in Channing for children. Toys and art projects are available to them during coffee hour. The area is not supervised by staff. We ask that children and parents keep the area clean! Which Class should my child attend? The age groupings are recommendations only. You are welcome to request that your child be placed in the group above or below them based on their individual skills. Note that the Senior High group must be the equivalent of ninth grade to attend. Volunteer Opportunities Our adult church members donate hundreds of hours of their time to keep our programs engaging and exciting. Please consider sharing your talents with others. Flexible hours are always available. Training and love provided! See the MRE or a council member Teens: Need community service hours? We have opportunities for you! We believe: That each and every person is important. That all people should be treated fairly. That our churches are places where all people are accepted where we keep on learning together. That each person must be free to search for what is true and right in life. That everyone should have a vote about the things that concern him or her. In working for a peaceful, fair and free world. In caring for our planet earth. Adult’s Version
We affirm and promote: The inherent worth and dignity of every person. Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations. Acceptance of one another and encouragement of spiritual growth in our congregations. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning. The right of conscience and the democratic process within our congregations and the society at large. The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all. Respect for the interdependent web of existence of which we are a part. A Statement of Philosophy and Practice The Purpose of Lifespan Faith Development is to offer an intentional process by which individuals can: • Discover their gifts and calling • Build a spiritual foundation grounded in UU traditions and practices • Develop the skills to live in covenanted community which inspires and sustains us. Our Goals are to: • Support individuals and communities in discovering where their gifts meets the world’s needs. • Provide opportunities for generations to share wisdom with one another. • Development skills necessary to interact with the world community based on principles and sources. • Provide opportunities for the continued renewal of The mind, body and spirit. Our leaders practice cooperative learning. We strive to make our sessions free from traditional bias in matters of sex, economic background, race, physical or mental ability, religious belief and family composition. We realize that art and music can be powerful tools, and we strive to include activities that encourage all of us to respond to the arts in a spiritual way. Our denomination encourages faith development programs that serve the needs of a diverse population, and advocacy for the health and well being of all people in our world. We strive to create an environment, where children, youth, and adults are encouraged to develop their own spiritual path. By fostering the development of personal values, providing knowledge of history and tradition, and creating space for the development of mind and body; we hope to provide our congregation with a way of relating their own lives to the world around them. People of all ages and abilities are welcome to join us. We will make every effort to accommodate full participation of participants who have special needs. | | |
