Silken Wings by Karen Black A precious little life there was, Given briefly unto you, A special little darling, Just briefly passing through. You nurtured, loved, and cherished, And helped him each day through, His little body cuddled close, He knew your love so true. Some lives are meant to stay with us, And share our earthly days, And other lives are destined so, To other special ways. His short few days are testament to, How well you loved and cared, So that very soon he could move on, Very well prepared. And now he is the brightest star, But thats only what you see, Its a little way for him to show, His greater destiny. He plays among so many lives, That share a similar place, To be there in the heavens, and bring smiles to a little face. Somewhere a little child is there, Holding your little one, With a gentle touch and happy heart, A new friendship has begun. A while youre sad and you cry for him, You had strength to set him free, And those special lives that grow silken wings, Are angels, meant to be. For Little Marko January 14 29, 2008

| January 15, 2008 - The puppies had their first visitor this morning. Dr. Renee and her assistant, Amber, came to visit the puppies and give them their first health exam. Their next health exam will be at eight weeks of age. The puppies are already gaining weight. Chante is taking good care of her puppies. |
January 18, 2008 - Chante's puppies are four days old today. Amina, the first born girl is 8 3/4 ounces today. Julia, the second born and a girl is 9 ounces today. I have a hard time telling the girls apart right now since they are both white with no distinguishing markings on them yet so I have Julia wearing a little band around her neck. Our third born, a boy. who we named Marko because of the color on his head and face is 6 1/2 ounces today. He was only 4 1/2 ounces at birth. A breeder friend of mine says he was a little "under cooked". Marko has an open fontanel (soft spot) on the top of his head. We have been monitoring him closely and we hope by the time he is nine weeks old the open fontanel will be closed. I have been making sure he has some extra time nursing with Chante since he had such a low birth weight. I am pleased that he has gained a couple of ounces since his birth. Our forth and last born is a boy who we named Haris. Haris looks a lot like Pierre did as a new born puppy. Pierre is from Chante's first litter and he is quite a handsome boy. Haris weighed 10 1/4 ounces this morning. Below are pictures I took of the puppies today. |

January 29, 2008 - Our little Marko was diagnosed with hydrocephalus today. He had an open fontanel. An ultrasound was done through the open fontanel to see if there was water on his brain. Unfortunately, there was water on his brain. The decision was made to let him leave this world. He was not thriving and the only reason he was alive was because I was supplementing him with formula. May our little Marko rest in peace now. |

Haris has a new name! His owner has named him Luca. Luca will be leaving us the first part of May for his new home. Luca is a show/breeding prospect puppy who has been placed in a pet/companion home because he is a carrier for CMR. Canine Multi-focal Retinopathy/http://www.optigen.com/opt9_test_cmr.html . Chante, his mother, is a carrier for CMR. I am able to manage a female with CMR and test her puppies. I prefer to place any male carrier Cotons in pet/companion homes. |

| Chante has been having fun playing with her puppies outside in our backyard. She taught them how to go through the tunnel this week. I am glad we have had some nice weather so they could enjoy some outdoor playtime before leaving for their homes. Chante's puppies are six weeks old in the outdoor pictures. On Monday, March 3, 2008 they will be seven weeks old. |
