What can I expect to pay for a Coton de Tulear puppy? Pet/Companion Coton de Tulear puppies from code of ethic breeders who belong to reputable Coton de Tulear breed clubs in the USA typically range in price from $2,000.00 to $3,000.00. Show/Breeding prospect puppies are priced from $3,000.00 to $5,000.00. Coton de Tulear breeders in the USA who are passionate about the Coton de Tulear breed belong to one or more of the following breed clubs - American Coton Club, American Association of the Coton de Tulear, United States of America Coton de Tulear Club or the North American Coton Association. If you want a pure bred Coton then purchase a Coton from a breeder who cares enough about the Coton de Tulear breed to be a member of one of the above breed clubs. Code of Ethic breeders who belong to the reputable Coton de Tulear breed clubs set high standards to preserve, honor and protect the Coton de Tulear breed from exploitation and careless breeding practices. Code of Ethic breeders have an obligation to protect the health and welfare of the Coton de Tulear breed. Most COE breeders screen their Cotons using available health tests and results are made public on the OFFA and CERF web sites. COE breeders stay informed of all health and genetic issues related to the Coton de Tuelar breed. COE breeders only breed together Coton de Tulear dogs. Our Cotons will never be bred to mixed breed dogs or other pure bred breeds of dog. COE breeders will never place or sell a Coton for resale to a pet store, dealer, wholesaler, broker or backyard breeder.
Our pet/companion Coton de Tulear puppies are $2,200.00. Our potentially breedable quality puppies are $2,800.00 to pet/companion homes with a spay/neuter contract. These puppies are for people who want a "potentially breedable quality" puppy but do not want to breed. Show/Breeding prospect puppies with breeding rights are $3,500.00. In order to purchase a show/breeding prospect puppy the owner must be a member of at least one of the reputable breed clubs (American Coton Club - ACC, American Association Coton de Tulear - AACDT, United States of American Coton de Tulear Club - USACTC) and follow the Code Of Ethics for the breed club. This will be stipulated in the show/breeding prospect contract. Our puppies are microchiped, they have had their first vaccination and health exam at Lake Stevens Animal Hospital with Dr. Renee Gray. A CERF eye exam will be done on each puppy at the Animal Eye Clinic in Seattle, WA. For those purchasing pet/companion and potentially breedable quality Cotons that will not be bred - the registration/pedigree papers for your Coton will be sent to you after spay/neuter surgery is done. Our puppies will not be spay/neutered before six months of age. This will be stipulated in the puppy contract. Our puppies are sent home with a comprehensive contract for the protection of our puppies, their owners and ourselves. |
| Hello! TiaCotons is the creation of Michelle and Rick Miller, who have been married for thirty-six years and have kept dogs for over twenty years. We are able to spend quality time with our dog family since we are self employed and work from home. We have made a special commitment not only to the breeding of healthy beautiful dogs who have a lovely temperament, but to the long-term genetic integrity of the Coton de Tulear breed. TiaCotons believe that all Coton de Tulear bloodlines, whether from Madagascar, Europe or the North America, merit respect, preservation and enhancement. At TiaCotons we are dedicated to: - Producing lovable and sociable Cotons with even, sound temperament
- Providing socialization to our puppies in the home so they have a great start in life
- Performing regular health testing of our breeding Cotons, which we shall share
- Preserving the genetic health of the Coton de Tulear breed
- Finding the best possible homes for our puppies
- Lifetime support for our puppies and their families
- Protecting our puppies with a comprehensive contract
Coton de Tulear's are very social dogs. Cotons are happy when they are with the people they love. All puppies are sold by contract to homes where someone will be the Cotons constant companion.
TiaCotons dogs are registered with the American Coton Club because we believe in the principles of the club and TiaCotons pedigrees are issued from this club. As for coat color, we believe that breeding for whiteness to the exclusion of other colors might exclude desirable genetic potential in characteristics other than color. We do not pretend to know precisely which potential will be truncated. Our position is one of safeguarding for future owners and breeders the widest possible reservoir of genetic variation, while enjoying the personality and exuberance of every generation. TiaCotons respectfully reminds everyone interested in the breed that: - All-white Cotons commonly produce puppies with more or less color
- Sometimes the color in puppy coats will fade leaving a white dog
- Some Coton puppies are born with color: white/black; white/champagne or carry color which can remain, be muted or disappear as an adult, leaving the coat completely white or with the appearance of white; while other puppies can be born white from birth
- Litters can be mixed as to the coverage of the color and the number of colors
- There is no evidence of personality or behavioral differences between white and colored dogs; they are equally delightful
- It is very likely that some purchasers of puppies will ask for colored ones, once they know that there is a choice
Acknowledging that the Coton de Tulear originates from the Island of Madagascar, TiaCotons take the position that the Malagasy genetic heritage is important for the health and well-being of the breed. For this reason, we have carefully selected some male and female dogs which are close to their Malagasy origins as well as dogs with excellent pedigrees from Europe. Our grown children are involved in helping us with our breeding program. Some of our Cotons are licensed with them. My dad and his wife have one of our Cotons, Layla May. Layla will be having her first litter the end of December, 2008. We also have a couple of our intact males living as pet/companions with their families. They are being kept intact for my breeding program. Thank you for visiting our web site! We have enjoyed sharing our love of the Coton de Tulear breed with you. | |
