Young Adult Club (YAC)
The Young Adult Club meets every other weekend during most of the school year.  Students plan and participate in activities such as lock-ins, day trips, movies, and dances.  YAC members volunteer at many Arc activities and fundraisers. YAC is for students 13-25 years old who are interested in socializing, making new friends, planning and enjoying activities.

Youth Activity Days
              
Special Education students enjoy socialization and fun with new friends during get-aways from the classroom. The Arc creates exciting events and themes each month.   Event held once a month during September, October, November, December, March, April, and May.

Discovery Days
Discovery Day is every other Saturday during the school year.  It is a day of fun and exploration for students ages 6-12.  This day is also a respite opportunity for families, a "mom's or dad's day out."  Students must be ambulatory and able to take care of their personal needs.

Adult Days
The Arc provides learning opportunities for adults twice a month. Events include arts and crafts, bowling and fishing. These adults meet on second and fourth Wednesdays monthly.      

Every 2nd Wednesday of the month is Art Day with Ruth Spriggs at The Arc.  Septemper - May

Every 4th Wednesday is a community activity.  September - May

Showdeo

The Burning Sage Ranch produces real cowboys, proficient riders with trust and love for the horses. This wonderful program offers individuals guided opportunites to learn to ride horses, and to enjoy recreational riding and competitive riding in showdeos.   


Tennis
The Wichita ACES, a 25-member tennis team for The Arc, have won gold and bronze medals at the Special Olympics World Games. Players compete in The Arc of Kansas Tennis Tour.  They ended their 2007 season with their 22nd straight State Championship title.  The ACES have competitors at all skill levels and compete throughout the summer.   For ages 8 and up.       

 
2008 Tennis Season Starts In May

First practice will be in May.  Date to be announced.  Practices are every Monday night through September from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at South High School.  Team Fee is to be announced which includes a team shirt and all tournament fees.  Contact the Arc to sign up or register at your first practice!


Orchard Park Fun Night
Fun activities, sponsored by The Arc and Orchard Recreation Park, are presented Tuesdays, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.  Snacks are provided.  A variety of unique and fun activities include dances, interactive events, riding with a motorcycle club, attending a Wichita Thunder hockey demonstration, and more.

Mini Tours
Travel teaches planning, day-to-day life skills, organization, discipline of maintaining schedules, managing money, and enjoying integrated experiences.  Sponsored by The Arc, numerous mini vacations allow adults and self advocates to travel through the U.S. and Canada to popular attractions, including trips to major and minor league sporting events.  See what is planned for 2008!
