Kajo Keji Suffering from Severe Drought [The following letter comes from Bishop Anthony Poggo, Diocese of Kajo Keji] Greetings from Kajo-Keji.... As you may heard, we have had inadequate rains in Kajo-Keji and many parts of the Southern Sudan and the regions surrounding us. This is the time of the year, when we should be having a lots of rain. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Over the last two months, we have witnessed intermittent rains in Kajo-Keji and most parts of Southern Sudan. Pray that we will have sufficient rains for the crops.
We should now be harvesting the first crops of the year, unfortunately this has not been the case. Most crops did not survive the drought and the harvest has been very poor. Our own maize in the field could not survive the rains.
Pray that the rains should be sufficient for the second planting season. If this does not happen, we expect famine.
Thanks, Anthony Poggo
