Ministry Mission Statement: Helping another person in need due to shut-in or economic changes with dry or frozen meals. Current Ministry Activities: Weekly and emergency deliveries of meals for a seven day period of time. Cooking meals; packaging meals. Current Volunteer Opportunities: Food donations and a bi-weekly driver for clients on the island. Resource Requirements: This ministry needs to keep the donations of food items within the church prior to sending this out to other programs.
Frozen meals and soups are delivered to homebound individuals who are unable to cook for themselves. Parishioners cook and package extra servings when preparing their family meal or prepare a meal specifically for HAPIN clients. Packaging for meals and soup can be found in the two cabinets in the narthex adjacent to the inside doors, as well as at the freezer site in the kitchen of the family center. Volunteer parishioners deliver seven frozen meals to each homebound client once a week. The volunteer normally stays for a short visit to provide companionship and to ascertain that the often-isolated individual’s needs for assistance are being met.
