Founded in Peabody in 1947 by Russ Treadwell and taken over by his son Brad in 1975, Treadwells was for years a busy and popular stop at the corner of Route 133 with a great view of Lake Cochichewick. Crowds gathered there to enjoy enormous servings of tasty ice cream that didn’t cost a fortune. Large sizes are a Treadwells tradition. The popular hot fudge, strawberry, butterscotch, pineapple and cherry sundaes covered with real whipped cream are our specialty.

Signature Ice Cream Flavors: Totally Turtle, Purple Cow and Scarlet Knights. The latter flavor, named in honor of the North Andover sports teams, is vanilla ice cream with peanut butter swirl and chocolate chips. There are many more flavors to choose from, including frappes and slush.
