Ed Leeper’s Cam Hooks are an indispensable tool for clean aid climbing. Put the working end into any crack, in almost any way, weight it, and stand up to reach your next placement.

Thread Cam Hooks (like Sky Hooks) with a loop of 1/2 inch webbing that is doubled and fed through the hole from the back until the knot (water knot) jams. This way both strands of webbing are next to the rock, which keeps the hook from rotating out of a tenuous placement.

Cam Hooks are available in four sizes:
The Narrow Cam Hook is for hard rock with maximum stability and is the most useful size.
The Wide Cam Hook is for softer rock or wider cracks.
The Micro Cam Hook is for the thinnest of cracks or tight corners.
The Fragile Flake Cam Hook is made from high strength aluminum and is made for delicate work. Use this behind flakes where it is desirable to minimize leverage
