Maintenance schedule

 

As with any business in order to ensure continued operational assurance and system availability there are times that access to the production systems will be unavailable for use due to scheduled or unexpected outages.


Unscheduled outages occur due to hardware failures or circumstances outside of our control caused by communications or electrical failures by our carriers.


Scheduled down time otherwise called Maintenance Windows, enables us to maintain the systems at regular intervals. These maintenance windows will occur on a weekly basis and hopefully at a time that does not interfere with your teaching schedules.


We understand that the systems are at present available for use internationally and in every time zone. Please let us know in advance (via the Help Desk ) if the Maintenance Window interferes with your classroom delivery and we will try to accommodate your request.


Full System Backup Schedules
 

Full system backup is performed in what is called a restricted state and does not allow user sign-on during that period. At times, the SEAL Web Site may be off-line during this time because it may be part of that particular system backup. Because of the international presence all times are listed in GMT format. Tethys.sealinc.org: This is the main system connection LPAR which also hosts the SEAL web site. When this system is in a restricted state the main Web Site will be offline. However, if you are connecting to a different LPAR using Host On Demand, you may continue to do so at the following link: http://aquila.sealinc.org:81/hod/hod.html
Scheduled Restricted State:  Sunday 01:00 - 04:00 GMT

Rhea.sealinc.org:  This partition supports general programming and hosts scheduled world wide programming competitions. This system does not support any other connection facilities.
Scheduled Restricted State: Saturday 08:00 - 12:00 GMT

Gaia.sealinc.org: This LPAR supports the AIX guest partitions as well as open source development.
Scheduled Restricted State: Saturday 19:00 - 23:00 GMT


Aquila.Sealinc.org: This is the main communications LPAR controlling the eMail and Help Desk and Meeting are portions of operations at SEAL. While this system is in restricted state no mail will be received by SEAL operations.
Scheduled Restricted State: Saturday 11:00 - 15:00 GMT


Kalypso.sealinc.org: This LPAR supports the YIPS website as well as open source development on IBM i.
Scheduled Restricted State: Saturday 15:00 - 19:00 GMT

Pleione.sealinc.org: This system provides hosting to DB2 special requests, WebSphere application servers, and Web Site hosting & development. It also supports Open Systems both as a Default Gateway for AIX (hosted on Gaia) and all Linux guest Partitions.
Scheduled Restricted State: Saturday 15:00 - 18:00 GMT

Oceanus.sealinc.org: This LPAR supports the IBM i guest partitions, DB2 Development, and Web Services for data backend support.
Scheduled Restricted State: Saturday 19:00 - 23:00 GMT

Helios.sealinc.org: This LPAR holds Mirror data for the Primary General systems connection on tethys.sealinc.org
Scheduled Restricted State: Saturday 08:00 - 12:00 GMT
