135th RUNNING OF THE KENTUCKY DERBY
SIMULCAST AT ROCKINGHAM PARK ON SATURDAY; ALSO SPECIAL POKER
TOURNAMENT
SALEM, NH-- Rockingham Park will be the scene for a
special day of ponies and poker on Saturday when the track simulcasts the 135th
running of the Kentucky Derby in the Clubhouse and hosts a special Deep Stack
poker tournament in the Grandstand.
The $2 million Kentucky Derby, the first leg in
Thoroughbred racing's prestigious Triple Crown, shapes up as an excellent
betting race with a full field of horses expected to compete in the Run for the
Roses. The $500,000 Kentucky Oaks, the Derby's sister race for fillies, will be
run on Friday and Rockingham offers a Kentucky Oaks-Kentucky Derby Double
wager. For the first time, a Pick 3 on the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Oaks, and
Woodford Reserve Stakes will also be available.
First post for the simulcast of the full card
simulcast from Churchill Downs is 11 AM and the Kentucky Derby post is around 6
PM. Advance wagering on the Kentucky Derby will be available at Rockingham on
Friday afternoon.
As part of the Kentucky Derby Day festivities,
Rockingham presents an all-you-care-to-eat prime rib buffet in the dining room
for only $21.95 per person. Reservations for the buffet and for Clubhouse
seating are strongly suggested and may be made by calling 603-898-2311.
Once again, Budweiser is the official Kentucky
Derby sponsor and the Bud Girls will be at the track for a promotion in the
Clubhouse and poker room in the Grandstand, where a special Deep Stack
Tournament will begin at 2 PM. There is a $250 buy-in to the tournament with
20,000 starting chips, but players may win their way in through winning one of
the $65 satellites beginning at Noon. Players must be 18 or
older.
Poker, bingo, blackjacks, craps, and roulette are
available in the poker room and full card Thoroughbred, harness,and greyhound
simulcast racing are available at Rockingham seven days per week. Live harness
racing returns on June 6th, which is also the date of the Belmont Stakes, the
third jewel in the Triple Crown.
