| | | Dear friends, neighbors and colleagues- How is it out there? Today it looks pretty good: snow's melting, sun is shining, children are running around giggling. I also know times are tough for some, and we want you to know we are here for you. Help with foreclosure issues, a nuisance house on your block, some straight answers about City services - give a shout our way, that's what we're here for! They say that change is the only constant in life, and just as these times bring change to our neighborhoods and business district, they bring change to NOGLI. Many of you know by now that I am moving on. We will begin looking for a new director next week. The board and our supporters are informed, and local leaders are stepping up to make sure you continue to receive the highest quality of services available!
It's been three years since I became involved with NOGLI. In that time we've gone through a lot together. Huge successes like closing the Cameo Lounge, awkward moments like the Home and Garden Tour in 104 degree weather, and more e-mails than I can recount. I've come to feel a certain affection for neighborhoods and volunteers, as well as organizational partners. We're a stronger organization now, thanks in no small measure to each of you. So, thanks! Thanks for showing up, time and time again, to work on issues and events that create not only the kind of community you want to live in, but a larger vision of the kind of world you want to live in. This is the most fulfilling aspect of the job: to work with a people of vision and commitment. There are great things in the works because of this commitment: a 2009 Home and Garden Tour, the Greater Lauraville Fair of course, and loan monies for the repair and renovation of Harford Road properties, in addition to the fabulous HNI loan products many of you are already taking advantage of. There's plenty of time for this transition to take place. I have no urgent commitments forcing the transition. So, I look forward to working with you over the next couple of months, and eventually introducing our new director. With a warm and open heart, I say thank you. Lorrie
