Thank you for being a PUBLICITY VOLUNTEER.

Doing these game writeups for the kids is easy.  They love to see their names in print, so do parents and grandparents.  There may be more than one volunteer per team, share the work, and enjoy watching your child and their friends play to great game of soccer.

Please remember, part of this job description includes helping us with one of the registration days for the next season.  The Publicity Coordinator will be in touch to confirm a schedule.

Simple guidelines for writing and submitting your game writeups.

1. The HOME TEAM'S PUBLICITY VOLUNTEER is responsible for both writing and submitting the game write-up.

2. ALL game write-ups and articles FORMATTED and DOUBLE-SPACED on 81/2 x 11-inch paper.

3. Only ONE GAME should be included on each page or email.

4. There is a 40 WORD limit / Maximum per game write-up.  The Intelligencer imposes this limit. Articles submitted over 40 words will be discarded.

5. Mention ONLY three (3) players from each team in each article.  Make an effort to include each player on your team's roster in at least one game writeup during the season.  Consider mentioning more than just goal scorers.  Reward all areas of play.  The goal is to get recognition for all the children.

6. Identify both teams with their SPONSOR'S full name only.  No team nicknames (e.g. Crows) should be used.  Include the date of the game.

7. It is not necessary to include the final score in the game write-up.  Try to emphasize sportsmanship, outstanding team play along with strong individual efforts.

8. The author of the game write-up should include their name and phone number on each article in case any clarification is needed.

9. Game write-ups should be emailed, as attachments, to your Age Group Publicity Coordinator.  Your Age Group Publicity Coordinator should have contacted you prior to the season start.  If you have not heard from your Age Group Publicity Coordinator please email the league Publicity Coordinator at the address below for help.

10. Please DO NOT take the articles to The Intelligencer yourself, they will only accept write-ups through the Club's Publicity Coordinator.

11. Submit articles as soon as possible after the game.  However, please don't rush, make sure that all names are spelled correctly, that the article is legible and in the recommended format.

12. Game writeups generally appear in the special Community Sports Section included in the Wednesday Intelligencer.  However, due to circumstances beyond our control, there is no guarantee when your article will actually appear in the newspaper.

13. Keep a list of your player's names and uniform numbers for easy identification.  It is good to keep a record of who has already been written up.

14. It's a good idea to introduce yourself to the opposing team's publicity person prior to the start of the game.  He/she will be able to help you with their team's player's names and highlights.
