Turtle Race Winners

| It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood, for turtle races, that is. As 412 racers lined up their mighty steeds, they urged them to run as fast as they could. In the end, however, only two racers could claim victory. Seven year old Hannah Coons of Carrier Mills, IL was crowned the Grand Winner while nine year old Molly Honsey of Grand Forks, ND was crowned Grand Slowpoke Winner.
The afternoon started out with an abundance of both young and old who celebrated their birthday at the races. They were serenaded by the crowd and given a free ice cream cone as a present.
It was an outstanding afternoon with all the hula hoop contests and dance contests. Speaking of dance contests, four outstanding singers sang the chicken dance song while a host of young people and adults danced. The singers were Angel Welu of Dubuque, IA; Sara Sparks of Rosemount, MN; Lauren Palmer of Forest Lake, MN and Josie Neveu of West St. Paul, MN. Another group of young people led the YMCA dance. They were Tiffany Schintgen of Longville, Robert Lounsbury of Fairbanks, AL; Ashlee Bolter of Rochester, MN and Shannon Thorson of So. St. Paul, MN.
Twelve resorts participated in the Resort Turtle Race. Those participating included: Caden of DOK Holiday Resort; Ethan of Timber Trails Resort; CJ Flier of the Longville Inn; Matthew of Woman Lake Lodge; Justin of Kee-Nee-Moo-Sha Resort; Lyndsay of Thunder Lake Lodge; colby of Little Boy Resort; Michael of Tall Pine Lodge; Rachel of Little Ponderosa Resort; Amber of Balsam Bay Resort; Tristen of Deer Trail Resort; and Ben of Rainbow Bay Resort. The winner was nine month old Caden Van Buren of Cross Plains, WI, who with her family was vacationing at DOK Holiday Resort.
