Flight Training

Training Programs at JustFly!

Ground School

JustFly! Flight Training will ensure that you are not only trained to fly an airplane but the principle of why and how the airplane stays in the air.   The segments covered include: aerodynamics, the effects of weather, airport operations, navigational systems, flight planning, recovery from unusual attitudes, and weight and balance.  If you are new to aviation this curriculum will take slightly longer to learn as opposed to someone who has experience in aviation training.   As a FAA Part 61 fight school we are able to train at your pace.  So, if you need more time to clarify the angle of incidence or the angle of attack, we will take the time required for you to have a complete understanding.

For this reason we offer Ground training in three ways:

You may take just the Ground School Course. When you have achieved proficiency you will be given a Certificate of Completion and your Log Book endorsement which entitles you to take the FAA written exam.   This allows you to take the check ride with the FAA examiner after flight training to obtain your Private Pilots Certificate.

You may take the Ground School Training in conjunction with your flight training.  Most student s are in an airplane by the second or third lesson.  Each time you fly you will target a particular segment prior to, during, and in review of your flight training session.    We find that this form of learning is more conducive to retention and is the most cost effective.

Also offered is a 2 day Test Prep course.   This is for student who may need to review prior to the FAA Knowledge Test.  Please contact us for rates on our two day course.

JustFly! Flight Training boasts a 98% pass rate on all students taking this test.

Private Pilot Course

The FAA requires a minimum of 40 hours of flight training.

The national average is 60 to 75 hours of flight training per the FAA.

Minimums required by the FAA for the Private Pilot Certificate:

A minimum of 40 hours of flight training to include:
At least 20 hours with a flight instructor
10 hours of solo flight training in the area of operations (Basic flight Maneuvers)
3 hours of night flight training
10 take offs and landings to a full stop
3 hours of corss country flight training
1 cross-country flight at night over a 100 nm distance
3 hours of control; and maneuvering of an aircraft solely by reference to instruments and unusual flight attitudes
10 hours of solo time including: 5 hours of solo cross country time, one cross country flight of at least 150 nm total distance with full stops at 3 different airports and one segment of at least 50 miles.
3 take offs and landings to a full stop at a control towered airport
3 hours of flight training in preparation for the Practical Test.

All students are required to take ground lessons to prepare for the FAA written test and to enhance their knowledge of the aircraft systems, airspace, airport operations, weight and balance, etc..  Traditionally ground lessons coincide with the student’s flight lesson.

Commercially produced DVDs, as offered by some flight schools are not a substitute for a good Ground Course training foundation.  Due to the FAA requiring a Log Book endorsement by the instructor at JustFly!, and the thoroughness of our training, we find that this investment is an unnecessary expense.

The student pilot at JustFly! will be responsible for purchasing books, flight materials.  Aviation headphones which are available for rent at a nominal fee.

Aviation insurance is a requirement for all aircraft rentals.  A pilot must purchase  non-owners renters insurance prior to rental of an aircraft including first solo.
