About Our Program

Holy Cross Child Development Center provides the warmth and nurturing of home and the excitement of new adventures.

Art, Science and Math are enhanced by providing activities which include painting, drawing, using play dough and building blocks. Such activities help develop logical thinking and problem solving.

Teachers are an active part of the learning process.  They interact where needed to enhance the learning environment.  A developmentally appropriate curriculum is provided by each teacher and is adapted to the needs of each child. A faculty of friendly, enthusiastic, professionals provides many opportunities for children to grow socially and intellectually. We place high emphasis on character development and Christian values. They model this concept, and are dedicated to their own professional development.

                                           We expect students:

                                                            -  To follow directions
                                                            -  Respect others
                                                            -  And do their personal best

                         Meals

A morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack are provided.  We participate in the North Carolina Child and Adult Care Food Program.

                         Specials

Music

In addition to music activities in the classroom, our center provides a music program during the school year.  The children go to music class weekly to learn seasonal songs, play instruments and participate in musical games.

Library

The children attend library once a week during the school year for stories, flannel board stories, finger play, puppets and games.  During this time the children may select a book to check out for the week.

Several special program activities are offered at an additional monthly charge such as Tumble with Care, Storybook Theatre, and Creature Teacher.

                          PAC

The Parent Action Committee’s mission is to assist our faculty and parents in the enrichment of our children’s lives, providing support to the programs where needed.

 Parents - VIP’s

Parents are welcome in the center at all       times, and are encouraged to share special   skills and talents with the class.  Parents and teachers share successes as well as areas for improvement for the child.  A partnership is formed to benefit the child.

Volunteers

                  Always Welcome!

Check with the CDC office about how to become involved.

Discipline

We view discipline as training.  Boundaries and restrictions are clear and well defined.  Choices are given with natural consequences for behaviors.  We encourage, show respect and kindness, and are consistent.

Classroom management skills used are: prevention, redirection, intervention, and positive reward activities.  Parents are always asked to be involved.
