Based off of the parenting model presented in the book, Beyond Consequences, Logic, and Control, these classes are designed to help parents and caretakers make healthy and loving connections with their children. You will be guided on a parenting journey, which will give you the tools and confidence necessary to find healing in your home.
When traditional parenting techniques fail, or make it worse, we often feel overwhelmed and hopeless. This happens because most traditional techniques are fear-based. Too often, these techniques simply create more fear in the parent-child relationship, many times resulting in chaotic and unsafe homes. Often times reading a book is just not enough, we need connection. Your leader is a parent who has used this love based parenting for over 5 years and has seen success with the most difficult children.

If you are a Foster Parent, Adoptive Parent, Birth Parent, Grand Parent or a Therapist seeking a "Parenting Class" that actually works with children who have suffered trauma, then plan on joining us.
Our classes are small 8-12 parents and the cost is only $125.00 per person for all 10 weeks or $175.00 per couple. Class location is at Arcadia Congregational Church -
2607 S Santa Anita Ave, Arcadia, CA 91006 Our next class starts in May 2008. We will meet on the following Saturdays. May 17, 31st. and in June on the 21st., 27th., and the 28th. This class meets for 5 Saturdays, from 8:30am to 12:30.
Childcare may be available for a fee. This is by reservation only. If you need child care please let me know by phone at least one week in advance. (Limited partial scholarships available.)
We currently have offices in Arcadia CA. We can also teach at your agency in your city. Depending on distance our fee varies. Some of the goals of the class are:
1. To help families shift out or tension, anger, blame, frustration, and hopelessness into a place of understanding, compassion, peace, and love.
2. Create strong home environments for children that are conducive to developing strong parent/child relationships.
3. Empower parents to be the best parent for their children and live their lives with their children to the fullest.
4. Give parents back the permission to simply love their children, instead of feeling compelled to consequent them and control them in order to “make” them obedient.
Topics include the stress model, love and fear, regulation and dysregulation, positive and negative conditioning, stress tolerance, trauma and memory, responsibility vs. reactivity, and dealing with lying, stealing, hoarding and gorging, aggression, and defiance.
