RWW Writing Technique:  Be An Artist
Nancy Kirsch

I unwrap the plump, goose-pimpled raw chicken from its wrapping of shiny brown paper. I lift it out of the pool of bloody juices encased in the paper. I wash the chicken, tenderly dry it as if it was a baby and place it in a scratched and nicked, but still oven-worthy, rectangular glass pan. I grab a wire whisk and beat together bottled orange juice and sticky sweet honey made from local bees. I add a dash of pungent cumin, a sprinkle of pepper and salt, and add them all to the chicken. I place the dish into a hot 450 degree oven and wait. Within ten minutes or so, I start to smell the aroma of chicken cooking. I can hardly wait, but I do. After rotating the chicken several times in its juices, it is ready to eat. I lift it out of the oven, look and inhale. I salivate over the crisply roasted and browned skin. The sugars of the juice and the honey caramelize, giving the skin a shiny, polished, brown and succulent luster. The moistness of the juices lends juiciness and succulence to the tender, moist flesh of the chicken meat nestled under the skin. The appearance and the aroma are intoxicating. I dig in. It’s fabulous, sweet with a slightly crispy skin, burnt a bit but delicious nonetheless.

"Hannah Goodman has written a wonderfully witty, engrossing and hilarious novel about sisters and their relationships. Her prose is dead on and her scenes flow effortlessly from one to the other. I can't remember the last time I stayed up to finish a book, but I had to finish My Sister’s Wedding!"
Rosemary O’Brien, Author of First Saturday

In the 2005 fall issue of East Bay Living, syndicated columnist cited several famous authors like Grisham and Patricia Cornwell as her favorite authors.  She also added, "I also like local authors.  There's a young adult book (My Sister's Wedding) by Hannah Goodman, a teacher who lives in Bristol (RI). It has great dialogue."
