Garr Church was founded by Dr. A. G. Garr in the 1930s among the beginnings of the Great Depression. Dr. Garr had been holding tent revivals in the city for an extensive time, seeing many miracles.
Dr. Garr heard God's call, took a huge step of faith, and made plans to build the first Garr Auditorium still located today on Tuckaseegee Rd. in Charlotte.
Over the years, Garr has been an important and influential part in Charlotte history, providing a place for many to come and experience God's awesome power.
Today, Garr Church continues Dr. Garr's vision of reaching our world for Jesus Christ by ordaining and supporting missionaries and pastors around the globe through The Carolina Evangelistic Association, founded in 1930 by Dr. Garr.
The ministry is experiencing new growth in many areas. Our Mission Statement admonishes us to “lead others into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by providing an environment where people are loved, valued, and connected” and has birthed new vision to a church of great heritage and outreach to our community.
Garr Christian Academy and Preschool, two of our ministries, are currently serving over two hundred and fifty children. They allow us to reach far beyond the four walls of the church and touch our community with a message of hope and encouragement.
Because of the faithfulness of God’s people over the past 75 years, we now enjoy a twenty-three acre campus which is used daily to make known God’s special love for Charlotte and the surrounding community by providing the opportunity for spiritual growth in every age group through many different programs, small study settings, sports, and many more.
