Narcisse Virgile Diaz la Pena (1807-1876) A portrait of Diaz at age 58.
Diaz was one of the leading members of the Barbizon school. Rather than
peasants, Diaz painted woodland nymphs in forest glens, set in the Forest of
Fontainbleu.
