Born in Evansville, Indiana, Leich studied in Germany and Italy. Leich had many exhibitions and won prizes throughout his career. During World War II, he was in Washington working for the U. S. Coastal Geodetic Survey (until 1956). He exhibited annually with the Chicago society of Etchers.
