Oregon 4-H Foundation Grant Program

   The Oregon 4-H Foundation accepts proposals and contributions for
   three types of grants.

  • 4-H Innovative Grants

   Grants can be made to 4-H clubs, counties and 4-H state faculty and
   staff.  Grants are used to encourage members, leaders and faculty to
   try new and innovative projects to serve youth.  Grants up to $2,000
 
 are awarded, funds for these grants  are provided through
   endowment earnings and unrestricted gifts.

   Examples of Innovative Grants awarded include: 

   4-H Kids’ Café.  A project for teaching youth proper nutrition and to
   provide opportunities for them to be involved in developing and being
   a part of a video production.

   4-H Latino Camp.  69 middle school youth attended the camp, hosted
   by Marion County.  Workshops included technology, natural resources,
   nutrition and health, arts, and sports activities including soccer.  High
   school students served as counselors, providing 13 Latino youth a
   leadership opportunity.

  • 4-H Regional Leadership Grants

   Grants are made to support regional 4-H leadership retreats for
   intermediate and older 4-H members.  Funding is provided through
   gifts from Gene and Gena Fisher, and unrestricted funds.

   Examples of 4-H Regional Leadership Grants include:

   The Eastern Oregon 4-H Leadership Retreat involve youth from 7
   counties. The retreat is planned, organized, and workshops are
   taught by older 4-H members.

   High Desert Leadership Retreat.  The retreat is open to young people
   from Crook, Deschutes, Jefferson, Klamath and Lake counties, grades
   7-12.  It is designed to develop leadership skills and to promote
   community service.

  • 4-H Community Pride Grants

   Grants are made to 4-H clubs or county 4-H programs to improve and
   beautify communities in Oregon.  Funding is provided by a gift from
   ChevronTexaco.

   Examples of 4-H Community Pride Grants include:

   Curry County elementary school students were awarded a proposal
   to beautify their school including doing a wreath topiary.

  
   Grant proposals need approval by a 4-H county or state faculty
   member.  Deadline for proposals at the Oregon 4-H Foundation office
   are January 1, April 15, and August 15, and will be reviewed,
   funding decisions made, and payments authorized by the 4-H
   Foundation Board of Trustees at their February, May and September
 
 meetings.

   All grants are awarded for a one-year period.  The 4-H Foundation
   requires a final report on all grants.

  •  Jackson 4-H Camp Scholarship Grants

   Grants are made to support the cost of additional young people  
  
participating in 4-H resident campping programs offered at the 
   Oregon 4-H Center.  Camps eligible to receive funds must be at
   least three days and two nights in duration and must be
   conducted by faculty or staff of the Oregon 4-H Youth Development
   Programs.

   Applications must be completed and returned to the Oregon 4-H
   Foundation by January 1st for the following camping season.
