TROWELED EPOXY & SELF-LEVELING SYSTEMS
These systems consist of low viscosity, 100% solids epoxy resin combined with fine graded silica fillers.  The flowable mixture is applied with a notched trowel or gauge rake and backrolled; this produces a smooth, glossy surface.  The high density, resin rich system is extremely impact, abrasion and chemical resistant.  Slip resistance may be achieved by broadcasting larger particle silica sand or aluminum oxide into the wet slurry.

A uniform textured surface and increased thickness may be achieved by broadcasting 20-30 mesh aggregate into the wet slurry to saturation and grout coating with epoxy after the slurry cures. A finish seal coat of aliphatic polyurethane will improve cleanability and stain resistance. System thickness is usually 50-125 mils.

These versatile systems provide outstanding overall performance in many special flooring applications.  The fine graded aggregate fillers dramatically improve the mechanical strength of the system, making it suitable for areas where thin film coatings fail.  Resistance to chemicals is generally superior to more porous epoxy mortars and aggregate filled systems incorporating only one size aggregate.  Slurries are ideal for smoothing rough concrete.

These systems are typically used in food and beverage processing areas, commercial kitchens, heavy equipment repair facilities and chemical containment areas.
