| I'm leaving in a month to go on a trip to the Carribean. I'd like to tan while down there, but I worry about burning since it'll be the first time I'd be "in the sun" since summer. I've heard that it might be a good idea to get a base tan from indoor tanning before I leave. I sort of burn "easy" the first time out, so I wonder how long would it take to build up a tan "indoors" before I leave for a trip? |

| The best case scenario and rule of thumb.....you should give yourself one month prior to vacation to tan. Since you state that you have fair skin and usually burn thefirst time out, getting your base tan in the tanning salon prior to vacation will eliminate burning.....and burning is skin damage.......tanning is not. Tanning is mother nature's way of protecting you from a burn......so the rule of thumb is go to your tanning salon 30 days prior to vacation.....especially southern exposures or sking trips...and start with approximately 5 or 6 minutes per session for three days and then increase one minute per session for the month. This will ensure you can enjoy the sun without the danger of burning. Have a wonderful vacation! |
