3 Year Olds
- With motor development and toilet training generally achieved, we go
on to readiness skills. Cutting, writing, crafts, and puzzles are challenging. Social play includes larger groups and shared activities at the block corner, kitchen and dress up. 3's develop favorite songs and stories they want to hear repeatedly. Repetition strengthens memory skills and love of stories. Children learn to sit still for longer periods, enjoy stories and songs, develop verbal, motor and small muscle skills. 3's develop good group feelings. Computers are introduced at this level. In addition to our monthly thematic curriculum, children subscribe to Weekly Reader. Teachers send home monthly activity newsletters.

4 Year Olds - Active, silly and imaginative are adjectives describing the 4-year-old. His/her favorite word is "why." In the year before Kindergarten, four year olds become more involved in academics. They are given pre-math and reading readiness activities. Artwork develops fine motor skills - activities such as cutting and tracing prepare a child for writing. Memory skills and long attention span are challenged. The formal lesson period is lengthened in preparation for Kindergarten. Science, sociology and civics join the curriculum. Learning to reason, compute, and form values paves the way to Kindergarten success. Special pre-school curriculum programs on the computer are great fun for 4's.
