A letter to our Customers,

I would like to update you on the state of the sheet metal business in the United States.
In the last few years there have been a few dealers of classic automotive sheet metal who have imported sheet metal parts from countries such as China and Taiwan. To many dealers and consumers making or saving money is more important than supporting our own domestic producers. I have been guilty of this myself. It is difficult to find anything that isn’t made there.

We personally have lost market share to importers because some of our dealers want a cheaper and often inferior product. Many customers either, do not know where these parts come from, or just don’t care. We have allowed China to drive good American companies "out of business". Do I have to remind you that China has recently threatened our country with nuclear missiles? What will happen to our trade with China when they decide to take over Taiwan and we are forced to defend them? We are supporting the very country that considers us the enemy. They are flooding our country with unfairly priced goods and making money so that they can build and buy weapons to defeat us. We are all helping them. WHERE IS OUR PRIDE IN THE OLD USA?

We have been manufacturing Thunderbird sheet metal parts for 27 years. We do not stamp out hundreds of parts at a time. We make a quality line of sheet metal parts and we have craftsmen with over 27 years of experience making our parts. Quality has always and WILL ALWAYS take more time to produce.

We have had major price increases in the last couple of years. This is largely due to the fact that China has purchased so much of our scrap steel that the price of scrap, to our American producers, has skyrocketed. Any business that wants to stay around will have to pass these increases to the consumer. We were forced to raise prices ourselves, which makes it even harder to compete. We appreciate and thank all our loyal customers and dealers that have been faithful in the past and we will continue to make the quality sheet metal they have come to expect

There is a certain pride in owning and restoring a Classic, Antique and Vintage automobile. These cars remind us of a simpler and more innocent time. A time when we were the BEST at manufacturing cars, parts, electronics, etc. Therefore, when you look to purchase a Classic Thunderbird or Mustang, look for the little silver oval, which says (Made In China) and be proud of your Chinese-Made Thunderbird or Mustang.

Best Regards,

Robert L. Jones Jr.
