Celebrating 64 years of making music magic for Akron area children!

OUR MISSION

The Children's Concert Society is a non-profit educational, volunteer organization founded in 1947. Our purpose is to foster music appreciation in the youth of the community by providing opportunities to experience the beauty of fine, live musical performances.

We offer all public, private, parochial schools and home school groups in Summit County and surrounding areas the opportunity to participate in three major program areas:
CONCERT HALL SERIES
For a nominal fee, students attend a very special performance (ballet, symphony orchestra, opera) in a concert hall.  Because the Series is funded through scholarships, no student is excluded from this event
IN-SCHOOL CONCERT SERIES
A diverse selection of small instrumental, vocal and dance ensemble programs are made available to all public, private, parochial schools and home school groups in Summit County and surrounding areas at NO CHARGE to the schools.
SCHOLASTIC COMPOSER CONTEST
Students, grades K-12, are given the opportunity to show their talents individually or as a group through the composers contest.  All compositions are reviewed by a panel of judges from the University of Akron’s School of Music Composition Department.

CURRENT EVENTS
Do you know a young composer?  CCS is sponsoring its 59th Scholastic Composers Contest!  Students, grades K-12, are given the opportunity to show their talents individually or as a group through the composers contest.  All compositions are reviewed by a panel of judges from the University of Akron’s School of Music Composition Department.  The first place winners are then invited to perform at our  “Premiere Performance” on April 24, 2012.  The contest is open to all students K through 12th grade including Home Schooled students and those taking private music lessons.  The contest will close on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.  For an application or more information contact us at ccs@uakron.edu or 330-972-2504.
