Cross country skiing has been proven the best all around fitness sport there is.  This is true whether you enjoy it in the traditional way on snow or at anytime of the year on roller skis or the new Cat Skis.  With the good roads and trails in our area there's no reason why you can't enjoy skiing year-round with the right gear.

From my years of experience with this wonderful aspect of skiing I've chosen the equipment that works best and gives the most performance, fun and safety.  We're number one in selection and service when it comes to skiing off-snow.  Improvements in technology offer on-snow feel, braking, and adjustable resistance that can make you stronger and a better skier.  Check out the types of gear I've picked out for you below.

Tom Klein, the "Doc"
V2/Jennex

V2 is our main line of roller skis. We have chosen this line for a number of reasons. One of the reasons is the wide variety of models that they offer. They have three skating models with pneumatic or semi-pneumatic tires. The 150 is the original pneumatic tired skate ski. It has 150mm wheels and is suitable for skiing on crushed limestone bike trails or pavement. This is the ski we pick for skiers who are over a 180 lbs. or want to ski on crushed limestone. The 125 has 125mm wheels and is best suited for skiers 180 lbs. or less. This is ideal for pavement rough or smooth. The 100 is not yet available as they are still perfecting the tires. They should be available shortly and will be the lightest roller ski on the market. This ski will be suitable for skiers of all weights. All these roller skis with pneumatic tires offer a smooth ride and excellent traction on wet roads. Both the 150 and 125 roll over road debris with ease, which adds to the safety of the roller ski.

Classic roller skis

V2 offers 2 models of classic roller skis. They have the 900 series, which is offered in 2 lengths; 69cm or 74cm (the K model). The K model is for taller skiers or more proficient skiers. The 900 series is offered in 3 speeds of wheels.

The main reason we carry V2 roller skis is because of the option of adding speed reducers, a brake or both. These options give you controlable speeds on the down hills and adjustability of your work load.

Ski Sket

We carry Ski Sket roller skis because they are resonably priced and we can affix the V2 braking mechanism. They are a light weight ski that uses 100 mm rubber wheels. This ski gives you a nice snow feel.

Cat Skis

Cat skis, the classical allterrain ski. It is a crazy invention. But, they are one of my favorite training tools. They can be skied on all your favorite ski trails, pavement, sandy beaches, or even on ice if studs are installed. The Cat Ski has truly made me a better classical skier. Because of them I focus more on classical racing than skate racing. They give you excellent feed back on what is wrong or right about your technique; because you have to ski them like a snow ski with proper weight transfer. It is to hard to explain the working mechanisms of this ski. So it is best to come to the store for a demonstration. You must give these a try, once you are striding along through the woods on a crisp fall day you will become a Cat Ski addict like I have.
