Celebrating and Embracing a Season for Nonviolence

You know you have forgiven someone when he or she has harmless passage through your mind." - Rev. Karyl Huntley

Hello my friends,

The Season for Nonviolence (SNV) is upon us. The season - running January 30 (The anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination) to April 4 (the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's assassination) - was started by my good friend Arun Gandhi and the Association of Global New Thought, headed by another good friend Dr. Michael Beckwith, recently featured in “The Secret” and Oprah. Can you feel the momentum?

These 64 SNV days are celebrated throughout the world, in various public workshops, events and celebrations. I myself have had my share of appearances in February traveling across the country relaying the message of nonviolence and forgiveness.

On my birthday (February 10) weekend, I was in Falls Church, Virginia talking to several hundred kids, before presenting one of my forgiveness workshops. The following weekend I was in Dallas speaking at various schools and reached over 3,500 kids, again following that with a forgiveness workshop. As I write this on February 27, I am in Edmonton, Canada and have returned to my hotel after visiting three schools where I spoke to over 1,000 children. Tonight I give a keynote address to their parents, and tomorrow I give another address to several thousand teachers at an annual conference.

My heart is so full. As I write, I feel the tears of joy running down my face. I have such a profound sense of gratitude to Tariq who put me on this path to teach nonviolence, peacemaking and forgiveness to both kids and adults. All these meaningful presentations helped transform not only the kids and the adults in the audience, but also me. I strongly urge all of you to take the opportunity to be transformed through one of my seminars, or through experiencing a TKF “Violence Impact Forum” in San Diego. Truly if you can save the life of one child, your life is meaningful. Reaching many kids on a regular basis is a huge blessing. It is when I work with kids that I feel Tariq is closest to me. We do this together. I can see in the eyes of the kids and adults the thirst for information, to deal with their grief, making the right choices for their future, dealing positively with violence in their lives and learning forgiveness and peacemaking.

At the request of several of my adult friends, I have decided to facilitate twice a year a full-day intensive on forgiveness in San Diego. This All-Day Intensive designed for adults - scheduled Saturday, April 7 in San Diego - will be an experiential day where you go beyond simply learning the 3 steps of forgiveness I used to heal the murder of my son - you will get to practice these steps and experience your own awakening into freedom. I promise you a transformational day.

The details are available by clicking here, and I am hoping many of you will join and bring family and friends with you.

My journey of forgiveness started to help me heal the tragic death of my son Tariq. But it has given me so much more. This work has enhanced and deepened all of my relationships, created many new friends around the world, put peace in my heart, eliminated stress and has gifted me health and vitality. You can embrace these gifts, as well, as you develop a forgiving heart. Learn how forgiveness can transform your life and lead to a life of fulfillment.

I feel I have reached that state of fulfillment in my life, and I document that journey in my second book "From Forgiveness to Fulfillment" scheduled to come out at the end of summer 2007.

Let’s honor this Season for Nonviolence, the 64 days upon us, and the memory of two great men of nonviolence, by joining on the one miraculous path of peace, making a conscious effort to heal a personal relationship. Remember – peace begins with you.
