Lori is a physics teacher at Rye Neck High School; she has been involved in athletics since 1987. She lost her left leg below the knee to synovial sarcoma in 1985 and enrolled shortly thereafter in the ASPIRE program. With the support of ASPIRE, she was able to qualify and compete in two Paralympics as a disabled sprinter. As an athlete educated as a mechanical engineer with a second Bachelor's Degree in Physics, she has made unique contributions as a tester of athletic prosthetics including input on the predecessor to the Cheetah foot. After her Paralympic career, she discovered outdoor sports and became a lead wilderness instructor for the New York City Outward Bound Center. While working as an instructor, she moved up to longer distance road races and has completed two New York City Marathons.
