Hawk Series™

Sheet Inspection System

Hawk Series sheet inspection systemThe “Hawk” is designed to handle a wide variety of layer sheet sortation and inspection needs. The “Hawk” Series Sheet Inspection System takes a stack of misaligned layer sheets and feeds them one at a time onto an alignment bed where they are inspected manually or with an optional automatic vision system. The individual sheets are then fed into a stacking bin where they are squared and stacked such that they can be loaded directly into a palletizer. The system is completely adaptable to accommodate our customer’s specific requirements.

Hawk Series Sheet Inspection System Features & Benefits

  • Source Hoist – Receives a stack of unsorted sheets and indexes the stack up to a level just below the sheet pick up head.
  • Automatic Top Frame Detection and Separation – vision system scans the top of the load for a top frame after each sheet is removed from the stack.  If no top frame is present, the sheet feeder will continue to remove sheets.  If a top frame is present, the automatic top frame remover will remove it and place it in the top frame hoist.
  • Top Frame Hoist – receives top frames and aligns them as they are placed on the pallet to ensure an orderly stack.
  • Dry Trash Removal System – spiral bound rotating brushes inside a vacuum chamber to dislodge and remove debris from the sheet.
  • Vision Inspection System – can be configured to meet your specific requirements.  The basic system is capable of detecting tears and major deformities. Our more complex system incorporates programmable intelligence to omit specified sections of the sheets which contain lettering and/or other intentional markings while still using the edge tools to detect edge deformities.
  • Target Sheet Hoists – system is configurable to allow a single target hoist for good sheets and a hopper for reject sheets to a more complex system with multiple target hoists where a sheet can be sent to a specific hoist based on decisions made during the inspection process.
  • High Capacity Hoists – allowing up to 48” stack height at the infeed to the system and at each target hoist.
  • Palletless Capabilities – Target hoist can be built with conventional pallet conveyors or as a palletless system for handling stacks of sheets without pallets.
  • Empty Pallet Conveyor System a completely configurable system to transfer empty pallets from the source hoist to a pallet stacker/dispenser and then onto the various target hoists.
